Mrs. Beatrix Kania
Head of Protocol Beatrix joined the United Nations after working for 30 years in the German diplomatic service. For her, being the Chief of Protocol of the United Nations is a dream come true. She would love to have a dog (a boxer, if possible), takes ice skating lessons, and has published a cookbook.

Ms. Aicha BENMANSOUR
Senior Protocol Officer
Aicha joined the Protocol and Liaison Service in 2018 after working for many years within the United Nations system, in organizations such as UNICEF, UNFPA, UNITAR, and UNFCCC, both at Headquarters and in the field. She has studied a wide range of disciplines, including communications, international relations, diplomacy, public policy, nonprofit management, emergency preparedness, and... scuba diving. What she enjoys most about her current work is the diversity of the people she interacts with and the opportunity to collaborate on a shared effort for the global common good. She has two children who are her pride and joy, and she loves to travel, read, and explore the underwater world.

Mr. Fariz MIRSALAYEV
Protocol Officer Fariz, who joined the Protocol and Liaison Service years ago, loves the multilateral and collaborative nature of the work carried out by his Office, as well as the opportunity his job provides to contribute to the overall common goals of the United Nations. He holds two double degrees, one in international law and diplomacy and the other in music education and performance (piano), making him fully aware of the importance of always finding a useful, functional polyphony between divergent but collaborative approaches.

Mrs. Carolina Llovera Alcazar
Protocol Officer Carolina joined the Protocol and Liaison Service in September 2024 after working at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. She is passionate about international affairs and aims to contribute to making multilateralism more inclusive, innovative, and effective. To relax, she enjoys practicing yoga and gardening.

Mr. Hans Grohmann
Senior Protocol Assistant Hans has been working in protocol since 1994 and enjoys the ceremonial aspects of his job, which encompasses events as diverse as fun and lively photo shoots, serious and formal flag-raising ceremonies, and solemn commemorative events. He has practiced martial arts since childhood, which helps him to be patient and remain calm when facing the challenges of protocol.

Mr. Roderick Santos
Protocol Assistant Roderick began his career at Headquarters in 1999. He joined Protocol in 2013, having previously worked in the Publications Section, the Interpretation Service, and the Literal Records Service. In addition to being a bonsai enthusiast and craftsman, he is passionate about illustration and inking, among other creative genres of visual arts.

Mr. Patrick Ruiz
Protocol Assistant Patrick joins the UN after more than a decade in Philippine government institutions such as the Office of the Vice President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He enjoys nature and likes to travel with a curiosity to learn about the history and culture of the people he meets. When he was younger, Patrick played in a local groove metal band, and he still enjoys listening to metal music.

Mr. Haunath KASSI
Protocol Assistant Haunath joined the United Nations in September 2008. He arrived at the Protocol and Liaison Service in 2011, after working in the Publications Section. From a young age, he enjoyed staying informed about current events and learning about the world around him, so he is delighted to work in an environment where he can meet and interact with the people making the news. He also enjoys dancing to gospel music.
