UNOCT Global Fusion Cells Programme concludes a three-week 'Training of Trainers' course for Law Enforcement Practitioners from Africa

The United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) Global Fusion Cells Programme and the United Nations Police (UNPOL) delivered a three-week in-person Train the Trainer course from 24 October to 11 November 2022 at the UNOCT Programme Office and Training Centre in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco.

Twenty-five participants from Ghana, Botswana, Uganda, Mozambique, Togo, Nigeria, Niger, and from the regional Southern African Development Community (SADC) took part in this three-week intensive Train the Trainer course, delivered by certified instructors from UNPOL and from The Gambia and Uganda.

The Train the Trainer course consisted of three modules that each lasted one week:

  • Module 1 "Capacity-Building and Development" to introduce Capacity building and development approaches;
  • Module 2  "Mentoring, monitoring and advising" to improve trainers' abilities to communicate cross-culturally and motivate students;
  • Module 3 "Instructor Development" to improve participants' abilities to train staff in their home country.

This course enhances member states' training capacity by improving their existing trainer resources.  UN-certified Police Instructors from UNPOL ensure that all participants meet the required standards in delivering complex and specialist training and in managing a kidnap investigation at their respective national training facilities.  Furthermore, UN Certified Trainers provide ongoing assessment and mentoring to the participants, supporting their learning process and enhancing the overall training experience.
