Human Rights training for Iraqi law enforcement officials in Baghdad

The United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) and the Human Rights Office of the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) held a human rights training for Iraqi law enforcement officials in Baghdad from 12-13 December 2021. 

The event focused on the promotion and protection of human rights standards during investigative interviewing, procedural safeguards to prevent torture and ill-treatment as well as best practices regarding the treatment of women and children.

One important outcome of the workshop was a comparison of relevant international human rights law with Iraqi domestic law and an ensuing discussion on areas for further improvement. The extremely engaging discussions aimed at contributing to human rights compliant practices for Iraqis involved in the judicial process.
 

بغداد ،١٣ كانون الأول  - عقد مكتب الأمم المتحدة لمكافحة الإرهاب ومكتب حقوق الإنسان التابع لبعثة الأمم المتحدة لمساعدة العراق تدريباً في مجال حقوق الإنسان لمسؤولي إنفاذ القانون العراقيين في الفترة من ١٢ إلى١٣ كانون الأول.
ركز الحدث على تعزيز وحماية معايير حقوق الإنسان أثناء المقابلات الاستقصائية ، والضمانات الإجرائية لمنع التعذيب وسوء المعاملة وكذلك أفضل الممارسات في ما يتعلق بمعاملة النساء والأطفال.
كانت إحدى النتائج المهمة لورشة العمل هي مقارنة قانون حقوق الإنسان الدولي ذي الصلة بالقانون المحلي العراقي وما تلاه من نقاش حول المجالات التي تحتاج إلى مزيد من التحسين. هدفت المناقشات إلى المساهمة في الممارسات المتوافقة مع حقوق الإنسان للعراقيين المشاركين في العملية القضائية.
