With the world facing the largest crisis of forced displacement since the Second World War, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today called on the international community to meet this immense challenge without lessening its commitment to vitally needed official development assistance.
Emphasizing that “reliable and timely statistics and indicators are more important than ever,” United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today urged all partners and stakeholders to work together to achieve the ambitious 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
“Putting a price on carbon has been recognized as one of the most effective tools to incentivize low-carbon growth and lower greenhouse gas emissions. The Carbon Pricing Panel established by the World Bank can help accelerate the momentum to put a price on carbon-based fossil fuel emissions," Ban Ki-moon said.
Visiting the Slovakian city of Levoca, the United Nations Secretary-General stressed the importance of the role of the local community, particularly mayors and governors, and the importance of living harmoniously and in a sustainable way.
