Recruitment exam for temporary/contractual English editors

The United Nations is accepting applications for the upcoming recruitment examination for temporary/contractual English editors. Applicants who succeed in the examination will join the Global Language Roster shared by language services at United Nations Headquarters in New York, the United Nations Offices at Geneva, Nairobi and Vienna, and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in Beirut for temporary work and contractual assignments.

The examination will be conducted remotely. Candidates simply need a computer and a high-speed Internet connection.

The examination is open to candidates who have English as their main language (i.e. the language in which they are best able to edit; usually the mother tongue or main language of education). Excellent knowledge of other official languages of the UN (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) is desirable, but not required.

Applicants must have at least five years of practical experience in English editing or a related language field. Additional criteria apply.

The deadline has been extended, and the application process is now open through Wednesday, 2 February 2022.
