[The cross-cutting nature of digital technologies and the multiplicity of actors involved in digital cooperation require synergies and aligned follow-up. Data collection begins for the Secretary-General’s progress report to inform the high-level review of the Global Digital Compact during the 82nd session of the General Assembly.

This action establishes a high-level review of the Global Digital Compact to track progress, surface new risks and opportunities, and ensure digital governance keeps pace with innovation. It also brings in diverse voices, recognizing that governments, technologists and civil society must shape the digital future together.
What happens next?
September 2026 – September 2027: The President of the General Assembly (81st session) appoints Co-Facilitators to lead open, transparent and inclusive intergovernmental consultations on the modalities for the high-level meeting. Once appointed, the Co-Facilitators determine the follow-up to the report.
