Milestone 1 | Deadline 31 December 2024

Working Group on Digital Technologies established.
Milestone 2 |

The Working Group on Digital Technologies facilitates UN system-wide coordination on implementation of the Global Digital Compact – including monthly inter-agency meetings, quarterly senior-level reviews, and development of shared guidance and an integrated overview of UN initiatives supporting Member States’ digital transformation.
Why is this action important?
No single agency can deliver digital transformation alone. This action calls on the full UN system, from development to human rights, to work together to implement the Global Digital Compact. By tapping into regional commissions and country teams, it ensures digital cooperation is rooted in local realities and responsive to people’s needs.
What happens next?
Q4 2025 – September 2026: The UN system supports strengthened country- and regional-level implementation of the Global Digital Compact, including through UN Country Teams. It will also deepen engagement with the private sector and other stakeholders, including via existing multistakeholder platforms, such as the Internet Governance Forum and the WSIS Forum.
