Annual progress report by the Secretary-General on the implementation of the United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy shows strengthened disability inclusion and accessibility across the UN system.
Milestone 2 | Deadline 31 October 2025
The UN Disability Inclusion Strategy evaluation recommendations lead to a revised Strategy with strengthened commitments from the UN system to better disability inclusion, accessibility, equality and participation of persons with disabilities in the UN system.
Milestone 3 | Deadline 31 October 2025
High-Level Committee on Management Sub-Working Group on Disability Inclusion finalizes proposals to set UN system-wide standards for disability inclusion and accessibility, for consideration by the HLCM in October 2025.
Milestone 4 | Deadline 31 December 2025
Executive Committee decisions from August 2024 fully implemented, leading to improvements in physical and digital accessibility at United Nations Headquarters, reasonable accommodation funding for employees with disabilities, enhanced human resource policy on employment of persons with disabilities, improved data collection on staff with disabilities, improved capacity building of staff on disability inclusion, and systematic integration of disability inclusion in programme management and policy advocacy. Given the constraints, it is critical to explore multi-keyholder partnership for disability inclusion including among others, Global action on Disability (GLAD) Network, Global Disability Summit (GDS) follow-up as part of the Amman-Berlin Declaration on Disability inclusion 2025.

A stronger UN is one that includes everyone. This action ensures persons with disabilities can fully and equally participate in all aspects of the UN’s work, making the organization more accessible, inclusive and effective.
