Annual reviews to enhance the safety and security of peacekeeping personnel rare conducted in the 2025 cycle of the UN Security Council and the Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations (C-34).

The UN has launched the implementation of its Mental Health Strategy for uniformed personnel, with operational roll-out and Member State sensitization underway in 2025–2026.

Why is this action important?

Those who serve in peace operations deserve to be protected and cared for. This action strengthens efforts to keep UN personnel safe and ensures they have access to health services – including mental health support – wherever they are deployed.

What happens next?

A comprehensive mental health training module for uniformed personnel will be rolled out, and there will be associated launch events by the end of 2026.
