Business

The international business community is embracing corporate responsibility and is now working side by side with the UN to make the world a better place. Through the UN Global Compact, companies embrace 10 universal principles. At the Climate Summit, corporations made commitments to help mitigate climate change.

Partnering with the international community to help solve humanity's problems is not only good global citizenship, it is also good business. Here are some resources to help you achieve this.

UNICs

This network of UN Information Centres (UNICs) is key to our ability to reach the peoples of the world in their own languages. UNICs work in coordination with the UN system reaching out to local media and educational institutions; engaging in partnerships with governments, local civil society organizations and the private sector; and maintaining libraries and electronic information resources.

By translating information materials into local languages, engaging opinion-makers and placing op-ed articles by senior UN officials in the national media, or organizing events to highlight issues or observances, the network of UNICs is one of the main vehicles through which we tell our story to the world.

UNICs give global messages a local accent and help bring the UN closer to the people it serves.

Media

Journalists play an important part in our work; they help explain to the public what the Organization does and why. If you are interested in covering our work, you may find these resources helpful.

Academia

The academic community writes books and papers on the UN, fostering interest in the Organization and teaching students about us. In many ways, schools and universities are vital to our work as they are raising awareness among the young people of today, who are the leaders of tomorrow. In support of their endeavours, we offer various useful resources.

Staff College

With its Headquarters in Turin (Italy) and its second Campus in Bonn (Germany), the Staff College is a centre of excellence for training and knowledge management within the UN system. Each year, we offer learning initiatives that reach over 10,000 beneficiaries including residential courses, distance-learning, strategic exchanges and seminars.

Programmes range from leadership and management development, to the development of those sectoral and functional competences that are needed to effectively serve as an international civil servant.

Students

Young people are the future of the world. Since at the UN we work to make the world a better place now and in the future, we want to help students understand our work and offer many resources to do so.

Researchers

The Dag Hammarskjöld Library provides research and information services to support the participation of Member States at the UN. Located at our Headquarters in New York, the Library primarily serves delegates of Permanent Missions and UN Secretariat staff.
