Across continents and crises, United Nations teams have continued to work for peace, advance sustainable development and protect and promote human rights. They have delivered humanitarian aid in the most difficult circumstances. They have brought countries together to seek solutions to shared challenges, from the climate crisis to the uncontrolled expansion of digital technologies. They have worked to uphold international law through the Charter of the United Nations and the International Court of Justice to settle disputes peacefully and uphold international legal obligations.

Our work across key priority areas
Sustainable Development
We supported Member States by securing new political commitments, providing policy guidance, and mobilizing partnerships.
Peace and Security
We supported Member States through 40 special political missions and 11 peacekeeping operations.
Development in Africa
We intensified our support for African Member States, delivering 46 per cent of UN Secretariat spending ($7.6 billion) in Africa.
Human Rights
We assisted Member States with 5,200 human rights monitoring missions, 35 national review processes, and support to 66,500 survivors of torture or slavery.
Humanitarian Assistance
We supported Member States by mobilizing $16 billion in humanitarian assistance, reaching 98 million people.
Justice and International Law
We supported Member States by promoting international law. The number of multilateral treaties deposited with the Secretary-General reached 654.
Disarmament
We supported Member States in efforts to uphold the prohibitions against biological weapons, anti-personnel landmines, and cluster munitions.
Drugs, Crime and Terrorism
We supported Member States in seizing 232 tons of illicit drugs and 65,000 weapons and explosives. 150 Member States received training on counter-terrorism.
Effective Functioning
We implemented wide-ranging reforms under the UN80 initiative, saving money, increasing efficiency, and strengthening delivery for Member States.
