Cigna International goes green by shifting to Electronic Membership Cards effective 1 April 2024

The Health and Life Insurance Section wishes to inform all UN MIP and UN WWP participants that their insurance plan is going green! Going forward, Cigna International will no longer issue plastic membership cards for new joiners nor for current plan participants requesting a replacement card. Instead, you will be able to download (and print) an electronic version of the Cigna membership card on Cigna’s personal webpages and the Cigna Health Benefits App.

Using an electronic membership card has many advantages:

• It’s greener. With this transition to electronic membership cards, we are reducing our environmental footprint by producing less plastic.
• It’s more convenient. You can download and print your electronic membership card right away or share it electronically with an eligible family member. There is no need to wait for your plastic card to arrive by mail.
• It’s cost effective. This change helps keep our insurance plans affordable.
• It’s the new standard. The electronic card has the same features as your plastic card and is widely accepted across Cigna’s network of healthcare providers to ensure quick and seamless access to care.
• It’s more secure. Important information about your plan is securely stored on your electronic membership card, including your personal reference number. This information is always accurate and up to date on your electronic card.

You can continue using your current plastic Cigna membership card in parallel with your electronic membership card.
