Afghanistan Response

All plan participants of the UN Worldwide Plan (WWP) and the UN Medical Insurance Plan (MIP) can schedule virtual (phone or video) consultations with licensed doctors (GPs or specialists) via Cigna Global Telehealth on the Cigna Wellbeing App, from anywhere in the world. Psychiatry is a specialty available through Global Telehealth. In addition, both UN WWP and UN MIP also cover telephone and video consultations with in-network and out-of-network service providers.

To better support the UN staff and their families in Afghanistan during these challenging times, Cigna has now activated a 24/7 crisis support line where UN staff and their families can access free counselling support. This line can be used when being confronted with trauma, feeling anxious or distressed. Cigna counsellors will attend the call in English initially, and counsellors or translators speaking Pashto and Dari can join the call upon request. The support line has been activated and is available at +44 20 8987 6273 (open 24 hours a day). As international call charges may apply, staff may request a call back that is free of charge by sending an email to support@resourcesforyourlife.com. To ensure the shortest turnaround time, staff are advised to share their contact details in the initial email. Email counseling support is also available and may be requested by emailing at support@resourcesdoryourlife.com. All emails will be responded within 24h.

In addition, both Turkey and Kazakhstan have been added as Regional Medical Evacuation Centers and Regional Area of Care for Afghanistan
