Annual Meetings

IAMLADP meets annually under the chairmanship of the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for General Assembly and Conference Management. The annual meetings are hosted by a member organization and, since 2001, are co-chaired by the host organization’s counterpart.

Currently, the rotation pattern for hosting an annual meeting is as follows: a UN duty station (New York, Geneva, Nairobi, Vienna), followed by a UN system organization, and then a non-UN system organization.

IAMLADP 2026 will be co-hosted by the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, the Court of Justice of the European Union and the Council of Europe and will be held in Strasbourg, France, on 29 June- 1 July 2026.

Annual meetings normally last three days. The IAMLADP task forces report on their activities, and members discuss ideas and share experiences in plenaries and breakout peer-learning sessions. The proceedings are reflected in reports that are drafted by the host and reviewed and issued by the secretariat prior to posting on the IAMLADP Members Only site. Occasionally public statements are issued as a meeting outcome.

The Brussels Statement on multilingualism, issued as an outcome of IAMLADP 2019, is available in all twenty-four official languages of the European Union (host of IAMLADP 2019) and the six official languages of the United Nations in English and French compilations.
