New Medicare Part B premium rates effective 1 January 2022

Dear Friends, 

This message is mainly for retirees enrolled in Medicare Part B who receive reimbursement from the United Nations for the monthly Premiums paid by them.  

As you are aware, periodically new rates are announced for Medicare Part B and in this respect, please note the following information which is being provided by the Health and Life Insurance Section at the United Nations for changes in Medicare Part B premium rates effective 1 January 2022. Please note that this change in rates will be reflected in the reimbursement that will be deposited in your account towards the end of January 2022.  

 

Message from the Health and Life Insurance Section (HLIS) at the United Nations 

"Please note the following information relating to the new Standard Medicare Part B premium rates effective 1 January 2022 as well as actions to be taken by those who are required to pay different than standard rates: 

(1) If either you or your dependents were paying and were reimbursed the 2021 Standard Medicare Part B  premium rate in the amount of $148.50 and have received notice that your new Standard 2022 Medicare B premium rate was increased to $170.10, please note that your information has already been updated in HLIS records, and there is no need for you to take any  action.

(2) However, if in 2021 you were paying the 2021 Standard Medicare Part B Premium rate in the amount of $148.50  but were reimbursed less than you paid, please submit to HLIS atASHI@un.org your supporting documents for both 2021 and 2022 for our review and update together with the Medicare Part B Reimbursement Request form. (3) If you were paying or are required to pay a different rate than the Standard Medicare Part B premium rate please submit your documents to HLIS at ashi@un.org for our review and update. For information on which documents to submit kindly see Medicare Part B Reimbursement Check List . "
