Data Symposium on the Future of Data at the UN

Dear Colleagues,

 As mentioned by USG Khare at the DOS Townhall yesterday, our colleagues in the Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) are hosting a Data Symposium on the Future of Data at the UN. We encourage you to attend this unique event on Tuesday, 8 October, 10:00 am in the ECOSOC Chamber.

The Symposium will include:

  • Opening remarks by Atefeh Riazi, Assistant Secretary-General and Chief Information Technology Officer, OICT;
  • Staff voices on data, including colleagues from DOS, DMSPC, and MINUSCA; and
  • A panel discussion moderated by OICT Policy, Strategy and Governance Division Director, Salem Avan. Panelists will include:
    • Francesca Perucci, Chief of Statistical Services Branch in the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs;
    • Lydia Clougherty Jones, Analyst and Research Director of the Data and Analytics Group at Gartner, and Adjunct Professor of Law at Boston University and Vanderbilt University;
    • Jordan Morrow, Data and Analytics Executive at Qlik; and
    • Dr. Sreekar Krishna, Managing Director of Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and Innovation at KPMG.

All DOS staff are also welcome to participate, even if you may not work directly with information and data!
