Transitioning from Humanitarian Relief to Long-Term Development: Addressing the Herdsmen-Farmers Conflict in Nigeria

As the first inter-agency initiative that aims to address the farmer-herder crisis in an integrated manner, the pilot programme applies the human security approach to safeguard livelihoods and promote peace. It creates an environment to rebuild sustainable livelihoods through improved structural protection mechanisms and dispute resolution at the local level. Practical lessons and best practices will inform policies within Nigeria and the region to mitigate climate-induced resource scarcity and competition.
