The Second Counter-Terrorism Week was initially scheduled to take place from 29 June to 3 July 2020 at the UN Headquarters in New York. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing decision of the General Assembly to postpone the review of the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy to its 75th session, the 2020 Counter-Terrorism Week was postponed to 21-30 June 2021.
During the 2020 Counter-Terrorism Week UNOCT will organize a High-level Conference under the overall theme of “Building Institutional and Social Resilience to Terrorism”. Participants will share information on the evolving threat of terrorism and related challenges, exchange experience and good practices on key counter-terrorism topics, explore partnerships and collaboration.
At the 2018 High-level Conference convened under the theme “Strengthening international cooperation to combat the evolving threat of terrorism” UNOCT and Member States aimed to build new partnership for multilateral cooperation to strengthen the international community’s counter-terrorism efforts.
To keep up the momentum on key counter-terrorism issues and strengthen international cooperation, UNOCT partners with Member States and organizes several Regional High-level Conferences. These Conferences serve as a platform for Member States to exchange information, expertise and resources, develop partnerships, and collectively address a range of critical counter-terrorism issues.
