PALESTINE COMMISSION
36th meeting
The United Nations Palestine Commission today continued work on its special report to the Security Council concerning implementation of the Assembly's Resolution on the partition of Palestine. Drafting of the report will continue at tomorrow's meeting at 2.00 PM.
On Friday, Mr. John Reedman, economist of the Secretariat of the Commission, will leave for London to discuss the Palestine food situation with members of the British Government. Mr. Reedman will be accompanied by Mr. S. D. Neumark, agricultural economist on the staff of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization in Washington.
The Commission, through the United Kingdom Delegation, today received a report from Jerusalem authorities to the effect that a second group of some 700 armed guerillas had entered Palestine via the Djamiyeh Bridge on 29-30 January. The group, according to the advice from Jerusalem, was believed to be under the command of Fawzi Bel al Kaukji. Together with a similar force which entered the country about a week ago, it brings the total Arab guerilla force in the villages of Samaria to about 1400, the British report stated.
