Mideast situation – SecCo meeting – Letter from Tunisia

Letter dated 17 April 2002 from the Permanent Representative
of Tunisia to the United Nations addressed to the President
of the Security Council

In my capacity as Chairman of the Arab Group for the month of April 2002 and on behalf of the States members of the League of Arab States, I have the honour to request the convening of an immediate meeting of the Security Council to consider the continued Israeli military aggression against the Palestinian people and the Palestinian Authority, and the non-implementation of Security Council resolutions, in particular resolutions 1402 (2002) and 1403 (2002), and the statement by the President of the Security Council of 10 April 2002 (S/PRST/2002/9).

The Arab Group requests the Security Council to consider the adoption of the necessary immediate measures to ensure an end to the current tragic situation and the implementation of the Security Council resolutions referred to above.
