From Philippe Lazzarini, the UNRWA Commissioner-General as posted on his official X account (previously known as Twitter)
Excellent piece by OCHA’s Jonathan Whittal
It’s become a pattern to silence voices who speak out against atrocities in Gaza.
The Israeli Government continues to ban international media from getting in: it’s been over 660 days.
More than 220 Palestinian journalists have been killed.
UN officials and humanitarian workers have been banned from going back to Gaza.
I was banned as of March 2024 following the International Court of Justice ruling provisional measures to improve humanitarian access in Gaza.
It’s our duty to speak out on the atrocities and any breaches of International humanitarian law.
That’s been a common practice for the UN.
Gaza is no different.
