Q. – After the extremely violent episodes in the region over the past few days, do you fear the start of a third Palestinian intifada?

THE MINISTER – I'm very worried about the increasingly frequent acts of violence. We condemned the heinous murders of the three young Israeli students and the young Palestinian. The situation in the West Bank, Gaza and Jerusalem is tense. The truce concluded in 2012 must be completely re-established.

Q. – Which is made more complicated by the failure of John Kerry's mediation between Israel and the Palestinians…

THE MINISTER – John Kerry is a talented friend and he spares no effort in the causes he believes in. In most of the major crises, you wonder exactly what the right solutions are. With Israel and Palestine, it's different: the parameters of the solution – that of two states – are known. Everyone must help actually bring this about, including Europe, especially since this solution is becoming less and less feasible with the development, unfortunately, of settlement activity.
