The Morocco-Palestine Solidarity Association (Association Solidarité Maroc-Palestine, or ASMP) has contributed $85,000 to aid Palestine refugees in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt). This generous donation will go towards UNRWA’s mobile clinic programme, which delivers medical services to isolated and vulnerable Palestinian communities in the West Bank.

The contribution is the second of its kind from the Association. In late 2009, a donation of US$50,000 allowed 13 refugee families to repair their homes, which were damaged during the last Israeli military assault on the Gaza Strip.

UNRWA’s mobile clinics were established in 2002 to address the declining health of refugees who continue to be affected by restrictions on movement. Residents of the isolated area between the West Bank Barrier and the 'Green Line’, which separates Israel from the West Bank, are particularly affected. The programme consists of five mobile clinics providing primary health care to nearly 156,000 refugees living in 76 isolated or remote areas of the West Bank. The ASMP contribution will go towards new medical instruments and equipment for the existing mobile clinics, and the replacement of one vehicle.

Created in February 2005, the Association Solidarité Maroc-Palestine is a non-profit organization that aims to support the educational, socio-economic and cultural development of the Palestinian community. Working with local partners in the oPt, it has implemented several projects, including cultural exchanges, conferences, humanitarian work and scholarships.
