EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy visits EUPOL COPPS mission

Ramallah, 08 November, 2014 – the High Representative and Vice President Federica Mogherini visited EUPOL COPPS mission in Ramallah. In her first visit as European Union Head of Foreign Policy, she spent two days meeting with high level representatives in Israel, West Bank and Gaza.

Federica Mogherini took the opportunity of this visit to EUPOL COPPS mission in Ramallah to reiterates her support to this mission, launched in 2006, which mainly supports the Palestinian Civil Police and Criminal Justice institutions in the West Bank. She praised the performance of the mission thanking the Acting Head of Mission as well as all staff for their good job and efforts, adding that this was particularly important at this time. She assured that this work has not remained unnoticed.

The acting Head of Mission, Rodolphe Mauget, reaffirmed EUPOL COPPS’ continuous engagement with the Palestinian counterparts in line with its mandate. “In these important times, EUPOL COPPS will continue to support the Ministry of Interior, the Palestinian Civil Police, the Ministry of Justice, the High Judicial Council, the Attorney General Office and the Bar Association to further develop the capacity of the Palestinian Authority and, ultimately, to further improve the security of all Palestinian citizens”, said Rodolphe Mauget.
