Letter dated 14 March 2001 from the Permanent Representative of Malaysia
to the United Nations addressed to the President of the Security Council
In my capacity as Chairman of the Islamic Group at the United Nations, I have the honour to request the convening of an urgent meeting of the Security Council to examine the grave and deteriorating situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Jerusalem, resulting from Israel’s repressive measures against the Palestinian people.
In so doing, the Islamic Group urges the Security Council to take the necessary measures as a matter of urgency, to provide protection to the Palestinian people by setting up a United Nations protection force to be deployed in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including Jerusalem.
