The 6-week annual capacity-building programme for civil servants of the State of Palestine ran from 24 October to 2 December 2022. It was organized by the Division for Palestinian Rights, Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs (DPPA). During the training at UNHQ, the trainees enhanced their understanding of multilateral diplomacy, peace, security, and development issues, as well as recent regional and global developments at the center of discussion at the General Assembly.
The trainees also participated in 8 courses organized by UN Women, The One UN Climate Change Learning Partnership, UNITAR, and the UN Library. They had an opportunity to interact directly and be briefed by a wide array of DPPA Divisions, other Offices, and Departments of the Secretariat, as well as UN agencies and regional organizations.
The training programme coincided with the 77th GA session, and under the guidance of the DPR staff, the trainees were given an opportunity for a first-hand experience of formal and informal meetings and events during the 77th session of the General Assembly.
The 2022 programme participants were officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ramallah – Ms. Abeer Abed Alhaq and Ms. Rana Hammoudeh of the Multilateral Affairs Department.
At the end of the training programme, the participants received certificates of completion from Mr. Mohamed Khaled Khiari, Assistant Secretary-General for the Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific (pictured above).
