The President of the 76th session of the General Assembly, H.E. Mr. Abdulla Shahid, met today with H.E. Mr. Teodoro Obiang, President of Equatorial Guinea, on the sidelines of the 2022 United Nations Ocean Conference in Lisbon.
The President of the General Assembly thanked President Obiang for Equatorial Guinea’s support for his Presidency of Hope and discussed the importance of the ongoing 2022 United Nations Ocean Conference.
President Shahid also discussed the challenges facing the world today and highlighted the need for unity among Member States to overcome them.
President Obiang congratulated the President Shahid for the orderly conduct of the 76th session and emphasized Equatorial Guinea’s perspective on the efforts by the African Member States to reform the United Nations Security Council. President Obiang further commented on food and energy insecurity and concurred with President Shahid’s call for dialogue and systemic solutions.
The meeting took place in the office of the President of the General Assembly at the Ocean Conference main venue in Lisbon.
