    The programme supported the rapid and sustainable recovery of conflict-affected populations and their communities in the Lango sub-region in northern Uganda. The programme facilitated the resettlement and recovery of returnees through improvements in physical infrastructure, livelihoods, access to basic services, peacebuilding and conflict resolution.

    The goal of the programme was to contribute to peacebuilding efforts and to demobilise and reintegrate former combatants into civilian life. The programme also aimed to eradicate poverty in rural farming communities where a large number of ex-combatants had resettled.

    The programme aimed to restore food security in households facing the dire consequences of the continued conflict and drought in western Uganda. The programme was designed to promote sustainable agricultural practices and self-sufficiency for subsistence farmers.

    With an emphasis on displaced and impoverished women of reproductive age, the objective of the programme was to increase the quality of and access to reproductive health services in the Gulu District. Programme activities included improving the capacity of existing health clinics and promoting safe and responsible reproductive health services.
