    The programme was a multi-sectoral, coordinated response aimed at stabilizing fragile communities in north-western Tanzania by simultaneously addressing the security, health, economic and environmental challenges faced by refugee and host communities.
     

     

     

  • Basic Education and HIV/AIDS and Life Skills for Out-of-School Children

    The programme sought to provide marginalised and vulnerable youth outside of the educational system with access to quality basic education so that they could gain the life skills needed to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and other health related challenges.

    The programme supported a large-scale school feeding initiative by restoring school buildings, training and motivating teachers, providing quality education, and operating school gardens. This resulted in the dual benefits of an improved learning environment with higher enrolment by children from pastoralist communities in rural areas.
