Summary of work

Background (A/66/100/Add.1)

At its fifty-eighth session, in 2003, the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to prepare, on a trial basis, for submission to the Assembly at its fifty-ninth session, a strategic framework to replace the four-year medium-term plan (resolution 58/269).

At its sixty-fifth session, the General Assembly endorsed the conclusions and recommendations of the Committee for Programme and Coordination on the proposed strategic framework for the period 2012-2013 contained in chapter II, section A of its report on the work of its fiftieth session (A/65/16); and requested the Secretary-General to prepare the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2012-2013 on the basis of the approved priorities and the strategic framework as adopted in the resolution (resolution 65/244).

The Sixth Committee considered the item at its 30th meeting, on 11 November 2011 (see A/C.6/66/SR.30). The Committee was informed that no reports were allocated to it under the agenda item.

Action taken by the Sixth Committee

At its 30th meeting, on 11 November 2011, the Sixth Committee concluded its consideration of the item without taking action.
