The 60th ordinary session opened on 13 September 2005, at 3 p.m.
His Excellency Jan Eliasson of Sweden was the President of the 60th session of the General Assembly.
The theme of the 60th session was "For a stronger and more effective United Nations: the follow-up and implementation of the High-level Plenary Meeting in September 2005".
