Despite some improvements in global financial conditions and reduced short-term risks, the world economy continues to expand at a subdued pace. After the downturn in 2011/12, global economic activity is expected to slowly gain momentum in the second half of 2013 and 2014, but growth will continue to be well below potential and employment gains will remain weak at best.
