The World Social Report is the flagship publication of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs on major social development issues.

UN DESA’s Economic Analysis and Policy Division is conducting research on the topic of “Sustainable Development in Times of Recurrent Crises”. This work seeks to analyse the impact of more frequent and interlinked crises on sustainable development and to put forward policy options that would help design more impactful interventions, identify new opportunities for faster progress, enhance resilience, and strengthen multilateral cooperation.

The World Social Report 2021: Reconsidering Rural Development was produced by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, led by the Development Research Branch in the Economic Analysis and Policy Division, with inputs from the Division for Inclusive Social Development.
