CDP at the 2025 ECOSOC Coordination Segment

On 6 and 7 February, Jose Antonio Ocampo represented the Committee for Development Policy (CDP) at the ECOSOC Coordination Segment. He reported on the Committee’s recent work on innovation for structural change and equity, least developed countries (LDCs), and financing for development. The Committee will, at its upcoming plenary meeting (24-28 February) address several development policy issues under the overarching theme of “new contexts and pathways for development”. The Committee will explore the fundamental shifts and megatrends redefining the global economy and the new development pathways required in this context. Mr. Ocampo also participated in a panel discussion on “Leveling the multilateral playing field: Financing and investment solutions for sustainable development in countries in special situations”. He emphasized the severity of the burden of debt for many developing countries, including LDCs, and the importance of institutional and governance solutions to debt as well as to other financing for development issues such as tax cooperation and the role of multilateral development banks.
