PROCEDURE FOR NEXT MEETING WITH ARAB DELEGATIONS

The COMMITTEE SECRETARY circulated a noto prepared by the Secretariat on the documents adopted as a basis for discussion in forthcoming meetings with all delegations.

The CHAIRMAN suggested that the Arab delegations should be informed that the Commission had requested further information from the Israeli delegation concerning the nine-point memorandum on refugees; (document AR/8) however, the replies so far received should be mentioned briefly and not over-emphasized. The Arab delegations themselves had requested a meeting to discuss the memorandum; it could therefore be taken up point by point, and the main initiative in the discussion left to the Arab delegations. The Chairman also had certain questions he wished to put, regarding the new subjects raised in points 6, 7 and 8 of the memorandum, and concerning the nature of the international safeguards to be established under point 9.

The Committee adopted the Chairman’s suggestions.
