SUMMARY RECORD OF THE ONE HUNDRED AND NINETEENTH MEETING
held at the Palais des Nations, Geneva,

The CHAIRMAN announced that the Commission was that day resuming at Geneva the work it had adjourned on 9 December, 1949, at Flushing Meadows.
Examination of the Final Report of the Economic Survey Mission
The CHAIRMAN considered it advisable to await the arrival of Mr. Palmer (United States of America) before taking a decision on the report. Meanwhile, the members of the Commission would have time to examine the report more thoroughly.
It was so agreed.
The Commission further decided to acknowledge receipt of the letter from Mr. Clapp and to thank him for transmitting the report.
Despatch of a telegram to the Foreign Ministers of Israel and of the Arab States.
The CHAIRMAN proposed that the following telegram be sent to the Foreign Ministers of Israel and of the Arab States.
“Your Excellency,
I have the honour to inform you that today, 16 January, the Conciliation Commission held its first meeting in Geneva. In accordance with the decision communicated on 9 December to your Delegation in New York, the Commission will resume its negotiations with the interested parties in Geneva on 23 January.”
It was so agreed.
Communication from the Delegation of the Arab High Committee dated 3 January, 1950
Taking the view that no action was required in this connection, the Commission decided to thank the Secretary-General for having brought the communication to its notice.
Press Release.
The CHAIRMAN proposed the issue of the following press release:
“In accordance with its decision taken upon the conclusion of its meetings with the delegations of the Arab States and of Israel, in New York, the United Nations Conciliation Commission for Palestine held its first meeting in Geneva today. The Commission will resume its negotiations with the interested parties on 23 January.”
It was so agreed.
General Committee.
The Commission decided, on the proposal of the Principal Secretary, to call a meeting of the General Committee for Tuesday, 17 January, at 11 a.m., to enable that body to examine the report drawn up by Mr. Servoise on the question of the unfreezing of Arab accounts, and to take the necessary measures in this connection.
The Commission further decided to meet again on Wednesday, 18 January, at 11 a.m.
