UNITED NATIONS CONCILIATION COMMISSION FOR PALESTINE

SUMMARY RECORD OF THE SEVENTY-NINTH MEETING

held in Lausanne on Monday,

18 July 1949, at 10.30 a.m.

Present:

Mr. de Boisanger

(France)

Chairman

Mr. Yenisey

(Turkey)

*Mr. Rockwell

(U.S.A.)

Dr. Azcarate

Principal Secretary

* alternate

The CHAIRMAN, on behalf of the Commission, noted with satisfaction the information supplied by Mr. Rockwell and the Principal Secretary to the effect that Mr. Paul Porter had been officially appointed chief United States representative on the Commissions succeeding Mr. Ethridge, and was on his way to Lausanne, and that Mr. Rockwell would serve provisionally until his arrival. The Chairman thought it would probably be unnecessary for the Commission to hold any further plenary meetings before Mr. Porter’s arrival; on the other hand the Committee on Jerusalem and the General Committee might continue to meet during the week and carry on their work.

The Commission discussed briefly certain cabled information and provisional reports received from the Technical Committee on Refugees.
