UNITED NATIONS PALESTINE COMMISSION
COMMUNICATION RECEIVED FROM THE JEWISH AGENCY
FOR PALESTINE CONCERNING CURRENCY ARRANGEMENTS
The following communication, concerning currency arrangements for Palestine, has been received from the Jewish Agency for Palestine.
The Jewish Agency for Palestine
16 East 66th Street, New York
March 18, 1948
Dear Mr. Reedman;
You may possibly have noticed one or two days ago a little paragraph in the N.Y. Times stating that Mr. F. Bernstein, a member of the Jerusalem Executive of the Jewish Agency, had made a statement to the effect that the Jewish Agency was going to issue a currency based on the dollar. I have made inquiries by cable and have received the information which I expected, to the effect that Mr. Bernstein had only in the course of a speech on economic natters generally dealt with possible alternatives for the currency arrangements of the economic union and that he had apparently been misunderstood by the press correspondents.
Yours sincerely,
S. Hoofien (signed)
Mr. J. Reedman
