Situation in Palestine – Truce violation – Letter from Egypt

LETTER DATED 1 DECEMBER 1948 FROM THE PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE OF EGYPT TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE SECURITY COUNCIL CONCERNING THE AGENDA OF THE 383rd MEETING OF THE COUNCIL, TO BE HELD ON 2 DECEMBER 1948

Paris, 1 December 1948

With reference to the Security Council's meeting on Palestine, scheduled for tomorrow, 2 December 1948, I have the honour to request that the Council's agenda include the implementation of its decision of 4 November 1948.

The Zionists' continued refusal to abide by this decision seriously affects the situation in Palestine as envisaged by the Security Council's decisions in relation to the truce which has been repeatedly violated by the Zionists, and gravely hampers the possibility of any progress towards a peaceful settlement of the Palestine question.

(signed)  M. FAWZI

Permanent Representative of

Egypt
