UNITED NATIONS CONCILIATION COMMISSION FOR PALESTINE
Letter dated 30 November 1949 addressed to the Chairman of the Conciliation Commission
by the Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations
Sir,
I have the honour to refer to the Palestine Conciliation Commission letter of September 12th and my acknowledging letter dated October 19, 1949.
In the above-mentioned letter the Conciliation Commission made certain suggestions with regard to the procedures to be adopted by the Commission in the future. Since the whole future of the Conciliation effort, including the future of the Conciliation Commission, would now appear to be under discussion in the General Assembly, my Government believes that it would be preferable to await the outcome of that discussion before embarking upon any long term planning of the conciliation effort in the future.
With reference to the proposal that the Conciliation Commission should itself make specific suggestions to the parties, my Government’s views are fully set out in the letter which I had the honour to address to the Conciliation Commission on October 27.
I am,
Yours very sincerely,
S/ A, S, Eban
Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations
