The Commission approved the draft notes to be transmitted to the Arab and Israeli delegations and agreed that the delegations should be informed at the same time that the three Governments represented on the Commission would, as required by the General Assembly’s resolution of 11 December 1948, approach the States concerned and urge that satisfactory replies be given when the Commission reconvened in New York.
The Commission also approved the text of a draft cable to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, informing him that, as prescribed by paragraph 8 of the General Assembly’s resolution of 11 December 1948, the Conciliation Commission had that day appointed Dr. Gonzalez Fernandez as United Nations representative in Jerusalem. Furthermore, the Commission hoped that Dr. Gonzalez Fernandez might proceed to Jerusalem forthwith.
It was agreed that the Press Officer should issue a communique to that effect from Lausanne and that he should give the press an indication of Dr. Gonzalez Fernandez’ terms of reference.
