ESCWA Mobilizes Arab-International Support for October Forum on Rehabilitation and Development of Palestine
Beirut, 1 September 2004 (United Nations Information Service)– As part of ongoing preparations prior to the "Arab-International Forum for Rehabilitation and Socio-Economic Development in the Occupied Palestinian Territory", and to mobilize support for it, ESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy will head two separate meetings at the UN House this week for the Arab and foreign diplomatic corps accredited to Lebanon according to the following timeline:
• Arab Ambassadors: Thursday, 2 September 2004, 11:00 am at ESCWA Headquarters, Riad Solh Square
• Foreign Ambassadors: Friday, 3 September 2004, 11:00 am at ESCWA Headquarters, Riad Solh Square
It is worth noting that ESCWA is organizing the “Arab-International Forum for Rehabilitation and Socio-Economic Development in the Occupied Palestinian Territory” in cooperation with the League of Arab States and the Palestinian Authority. The Forum will be held under the aegis of H.E. General Emile Lahoud, President of the Lebanese Republic, from 11 to 14 October 2004. It aims to enhance Arab bilateral and multilateral partnerships between government agencies, the private sector and nongovernmental organizations in order to assist Palestinians in overcoming the socioeconomic repercussions of the occupation and address future challenges despite political and security instability.
