Moussa Hails Final Communiqué of GCC's 26th Summit (20-12-2005)

Secretary General Amre Moussa of the Arab League of States hailed the final communiqué issued by the GCC's 26th summit, which concluded activities yesterday in Abu Dhabi.

The final communiqué has tackled all issues of concern to the states of the Gulf and the entire Arab region, Moussa said pointing out terrorism and boosting cooperation between the Gulf States as prominent scopes the communiqué has approached a matter that would contribute to the process of development in the region.

He also said the communiqué approach in dealing with the current Arab issues, such as Iraq, the Palestinian cause, Syria, Lebanon and Sudan, has accentuated the Arab consent over all such issues, which would support the Arab States and Arab League in their bids to settle them.

On the other hand, Moussa expressed relief over the communiqué demand that Israel must join the Non-Proliferation treaty in order for the Middle East region to be freed of mass destruction weapons. This demand has always been reflected in the resolutions of the Arab summits and the international community, Moussa said confirming that the Israeli nuclear dossier should be dealt with as seriously as the Iranian dossier.
