CEIRPP recommendations/Palestine National Council’s endorsement – Letter from CEIRPP Chairman

LETTER DATED 28 MARCH 1977 FROM THE CHAIRMAN OF THE COMMITTEE ON THE

EXERCISE OF THE INALIENABLE RIGHTS OF THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE ADDRESSED

TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE SECURITY COUNCIL

I have the honour to inform you that the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People held this morning an informal meeting during which the representative of the Palestine Liberation Organization informed the Committee that the Palestine National Council, at its recent meeting, had decided:

(a)  To consider the recommendation contained in the report submitted by the Committee to the thirty-first session of the General Assembly (A/31/35) as a positive and progressive step towards the achievement of the aspirations and rights of the Palestine people, including the right of return and the right to self-determination, independence and national sovereignty;

(b)  To declare that any settlement or agreement affecting the rights of the Palestine people concluded in its absence would be null and void.

I have been requested to bring this information to your attention and to assure you of the desire of the Committee and its members to contribute fully to the efforts to settle the Middle East conflict, of which the Palestine question is the central element.

I would be grateful if this letter could be circulated as a document of the Security Council.

(Signed)  Mèdoune FALL

Chairman of the Committee on

the Exercise of the Inalienable

Rights of the Palestine People
