GENERAL ASSEMBLY SECURITY COUNCIL
Thirty-seventh session Thirty-seventh year
Item 31 of the preliminary list*
QUESTION OF PALESTINE
Letter dated 8 March 1982 from the Chairman of the Committee
on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian
People addressed to the Secretary-General
As Chairman of the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, I have the honour to draw your attention once again to the violations of human rights committed by the Israeli authorities in the occupied Arab territories of the West Bank and Gaza. By way of example, I refer to The New York Times of Saturday, 27 February 1982, which mentions a number of these violations. All this clearly reveals the difficulties faced daily by Arab families under the occupying regime.
These practices can only exacerbate tension and thereby create an explosive situation which could threaten international peace and security.
On behalf of the Committee, I appeal to you to request once again that decisive steps be taken forthwith to protect the rights of the Palestinian people living in the occupied territories.
I should be grateful if you would have this letter issued as a document of the General Assembly under item 31 of the preliminary list and as a document of the Security Council.
