Question of the violation of human rights in the occupied Arab territories, including Palestine |
At its 40th plenary meeting, on 24 July 2001, the Economic and Social Council, taking note of Commission on Human Rights resolution 2001/7 of 18 April 2001, 1/ approved the Commission’s request to the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel since 1967, acting as a monitoring mechanism, to follow up on the implementation of the recommendations contained in the report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights 2/ and those contained in the report of the Human Rights Inquiry Commission, 3/ and to submit reports thereon to the General Assembly at its fifty-sixth session and the Commission at its fifty-eighth session.
