ANNEX
Letter dated 23 September 1985 from the Deputy Permanent Observer of the
Palestine Liberation Organization to the United Nations
addressed to the Secretary-General
Pursuant to our letters of 3, 6, 9 and 10 September 1985, I am instructed by Yasser Arafat, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, to bring the following to your urgent attention.
On Sunday, 15 September 1985, the Israeli occupation authorities illegally deported 29 Palestinians from the Israeli occupied Palestinian territories. Their names are as follows:
1. Ahmad Tahboob
2. Bader Kawasmeih
3. Gomah Salem
4. Hassan Amouri
5. Khaled Hantash
6. Khaled Dalool
7. Khalil Salameh
8. Riyad Al-Goul
9. Khamis Naser Allah
10. Salem Ebroish
11. Saleh Mortada
12. Abed El-Majeid
13. Abdallah Harb
14. Abed Al-Gamez Abu Edbaa
15. Abed Al-Kader Almariaa
16. Adnan Ebleidi
17. Adnan Mansour
18. Aiyan Abu Al-Atala
19. Aissa Shahein
20. Muhammad Al-Beiruti
21. Muhammad Abu Shbeih
22. Muhammad Gharier
23. Muhammad Ai-Hiyyam

25. Mustafa Abu-Gyab
26. Nathmi Abed Al-Raheem
27. Waleed Katroos

29. Riyad Al-Khateib
Eleven of the aforementioned Palestinians appealed their case before the Supreme Court on 12 September 1985; however, the Court upheld the decision of the Israeli military governor. The eighteen others were deported without recourse to the so-called Israeli justice system.
The Israeli occupation authorities closed indefinitely the Palestinian newspaper AL-DARB (The Way), and issued a closure notice for a period of 3 days against AL-SHAAB (The People). A massive demonstration by fascist Zionist settlers was held outside the Jerusalem offices of AL-FAJR (The Dawn), demanding that it be immediately closed by the Israeli occupation authorities. Threats have also been made against its employees.
In drawing your attention to the gravely worsening situation in the Israeli occupied Palestinian territories, I am requested by Chairman Arafat to call upon your good offices to take immediate and appropriate action.
