Question of the violation of human rights in the

occupied Arab territories, including Palestine

At its 39th plenary meeting, on 25 July 2002, the Economic and Social Council, taking note of Commission on Human Rights resolution 2002/8 of 15 April 2002, 1/ approved the Commission’s decision to request the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, acting as a monitoring mechanism, to follow-up the implementation of the recommendations appearing in the report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights 2/ as well as those appearing in the report of the Human Rights Inquiry Commission established pursuant to Commission resolution S-5/1 of 19 October 2000, 3/ and to submit reports thereon to the General Assembly at its fifty-seventh session and to the Commission at its fifty-ninth session.
