  Pursuant to rule 11 of the provisional rules of procedure of the Security Council, the Secretary-General is submitting the following summary statement.

  The Security Council resumed its consideration of the item at its 4998th meeting, held on 29 June 2004 in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations, having before it the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (S/2004/499).

  The President drew attention to a draft resolution (S/2004/514) that had been prepared in the course of the Council’s prior consultations.

  The Security Council proceeded to vote on draft resolution S/2004/514, and adopted it unanimously as resolution 1550 (2004) (for the text, see S/RES/1550 (2004); to be issued in Official Records of the Security Council, Resolutions and Decisions of the Security Council, 1 August 2003-31 July 2004 ).

  The President stated that, following consultations of the Council, he had been authorized to make a statement on behalf of the Council and read out the text of that statement (for the text, see S/PRST/2004/23; to be issued in Official Records of the Security Council, Resolutions and Decisions of the Security Council, 1 August 2003-31 July 2004 ).
