AND MIR ABDUL WAHAB SIDDIQ (AFGHANISTAN) AS TWO VICE-CHAIRMEN

The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian
People this afternoon elected Ricardo Alarcon Quesada (Cuba) and Mir Abdul Wahab Siddiq (Afghanistan) as its two Vice-Chairmen and Victor J. Gauci (Malta) as its Rapporteur.
The Chairman, Medoune Fall (Senegal), was elected yesterday at the
Committee's first meeting (see Press Release GA/PAL/2).
As agreed during an informal meeting this morning, the Committee decided to invite the representative of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) to participate in its work as an observer and to present suggestions and proposals for the Committee's consideration.
The Committee also decided to invite all Member States and intergovernmental organizations to participate in its work and to present suggestions and proposals for the Committee's consideration. Particular reference was made to the countries directly connected with the Middle East problem and to the members of the Security Council, especially the permanent members of the Council.
At this afternoon's meeting, the Committee adopted the agenda for its work
(document A/AC.183/L.1), changing the wording of item 5 to read: "Preparation
of the first report of the Committee and formulation of recommendations in
implementation of General Assembly resolution 3376 (XXX)".
The Committee will meet again at 10:30 a.m. Monday, 1 March, to discuss the organization of its work.
